Why I wrote the book, “Wind, Wild Horse Rescue”

Posted by on December 23, 2012

I began this journey and blog to spread the word about how today’s wild horses and burros are in danger of extinction. The government’s appointed agency, the Bureau of Land Management’s troubling system of managing our public lands and wild horses needs to be reviewed and changed. Roundups by helicopter, inhumane treatment and putting 46,000 wild horses in holding pens for 10 years and selling them to auctions to go to slaughter is not how these animals should be taken care of. They could all be rounded up in a couple years and disappear like the buffalo…

This is why I wrote and illustrated the “Wind, Wild Horse Rescue” book about a wild colt who gets captured in a government roundup and is rescued. Ages 9 to adult. It is an adventure fiction story based on facts. (A great read or present to the horse lover.)

We all need to talk to our Reps and Senators to protect these icons of America’s history.
