Action Alert Update

Take Action
Call or Email your Senators Regarding the Grazing Improvement Act today!
Dear Friends of Wild Horses and Burros;

We suggest that you voice your objection to this proposed legislation, which would deny public input through the NEPA process.  Combining this with the 20 year length of a grazing permit would lead to even more degradation of public lands by the millions of head of welfare livestock on western ranges.
Please urge your Senator to say NO to this Act. Do not to give more power to the livestock industry, which has influenced decisions by BLM and the US Forest Service to eliminate thousands of wild horses and burros from their legally designated herd areas.

Sand Wash Basin wild horse herd mgmt. area, CO
-Wild horses and burros only occupy 11% of all public lands. Cattle and sheep are found on nearly all of our public lands.

-Wild horses and burros are allocated only 18% of forage compared to 82% for livestock on this 11% of public land.

-Millions of head of livestock versus less than 30,000 wild horses and burros occupy public lands.
It is time to give the wild horses and burros their fair share!
The Grazing Improvement Act would further erode their rights.
Please note that your emails will only be considered if you reside in the state of one of the Senators on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. But, calls can be received from those not residing in the state of the Senators on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Petitions have little impact in these cases and form letters may be lumped together and considered as a single response, so please take time to personalize your message.
Thanks so much,
Ginger
