A Presidential Proposition

We are asking the President to pardon horses from slaughter for Christmas. We are also asking Secretary Sally Jewell to include wild horses and burros in her plan for getting children excited about going outdoors. We invite both the President and the Secretary to take part in the challenge to provide homes for all the horses in BLM holding pens by adopting a mustang or burro.

We want more than anything to see a mass exodus of all horses and burros in holding and the end of helicopter roundups in 2014. Last week, 25 people pledged to adopt in 2014 and The Wind Dancer Foundation, Inc. generously offered the poster above to help us find more adopters.

In the meantime, will the BLM provide shelter to captive horses?

Shelters at BLM Holding

In this photo by Coleen Denson, test shelters – installed at BLM’s Palomino Valley Corrals (PVC) – provide significant shade and shelter. We would like to extend a thank you to the BLM for installing these test structures and ask for a method of shelter to be installed on a wider scale as soon as possible. To date, we have collected over 19,000 signatures asking for shelter. We don’t want the horses to suffer while they wait for their new homes.

Thank you for signing, sharing, and supporting our efforts.
