Action Alert about horse inspections vote in Congress

Posted by on June 12, 2014

Action Alert from EWA

An ACTION ALERT from Equine Welfare Alliance

Background: An amendment has been introduced by Congressman Mullin (R-OK) that would reinstate horse inspections.  Our sources tell us this has very little support.  In addition, President Obama will most likely veto the bill if the current house version makes it through Congress.  The vote has been delayed until next week.

Our sources are still telling us there will not be a new budget but a continuing resolution which contains the language that prohibits horse inspections.

But… just to be on the safe side, we are recommending that everyone call their legislators and ask that they oppose Mullin’s amendment or any other amendments that would reinstate horse inspections or promote horse slaughter.

If you don’t have your Congressman’s phone number and don’t want to look it up, you can always call the Congressional switchboard at 202.225.3121 and ask for your congressman.
